ACT Fibernet donates 1 lakh masks to BBMP

ACT Fibernet on Saturday said it has donated 1 lakh face masks to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to safeguard the health staff and workers fighting against COVID-19. The masks were personally handed over by the company CEO Bala Maddali to Mayor of Bengaluru Gautam Jain, ACT Fibernet said in a statement. The severity of the pandemic has been affecting people across Bengaluru at large, making the efforts of these health workers and staff even more critical at this juncture, it said.

ACT Fibernet Sets up Eight Wi-Fi Hotspots in Bengaluru

ACT Fibernet has set up eight Wi-Fi hotspots and two TVs at a migrant labor camp in Bengaluru, the company said in a tweet on Friday. With several companies doing their bit to support the government in its fight against COVID-19 outspread, ACT Fibernet shared the examples of its work on Twitter. The labor camp is said to be behind Manyata Tech Park housing 1000 people with the Wi-Fi hotspot and TV serving the communication and entertainment needs of the people residing in the facility. Further, it was said that the Wi-Fi hotspot can enable people to browse unlimited internet at 20 Mbps speed.

The company provides cashback to Netflix users on certain plans with users receiving up to Rs 300 cashback in most cities and up to Rs 500 cashback in cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad. In Chennai, the plans eligible for Netflix cashback include ACT Blast, ACT Storm, ACT Lighting and ACT Incredible with ACT Blast users eligible for Rs 100 cashback while Act Incredible users can receive Rs 300. Additionally, the company offers ACT Stream TV 4K, an Android set-top box (STB) capable of streaming at 4K along with access to over 100 live TV channels. Further, the company notes that it provides offers on streaming apps including Hooq and Zee5 while apps like Amazon Prime are said to be pre-installed on the device. The company also provides 100GB of complimentary data to Stream TV 4K subscribers.

Free WiFi puts smiles on faces of migrants in camp

Amidst the pall of gloom that surrounds the migrant labourer camp in Thanisandra, she found a silver lining - in her husband’s smartphone. For the first time in a month, Devi got to see her seven-year-old son Sushil who lives with his maternal grandparents in Gun-jhalli, a village in Raichur. Now, on an average, 450 users log onto to the hotspots every day The facility was provided by ACT Fibernet free.
